Webe Video System

Our video system is simply a "sharing system", that means that your videos must be hosted by a 3rd party video hosting site such as Youtube, Webe Musicians offers embedding services for 24 video hosting services. Youtube is by far the easiest to use.

Youtube provides an automatic embedding URL on every video. This is found in the top nav bar on your Youtube page.

From your Youtube video page, you simply find the video URL and copy (ctrl+C) paste(ctrl+V) onto the webe video system on which ever group you wish to share it with.

Open the group on which you wish to place, or have permission to place your video selection. Once have have choosen the group, select Video from the "Group Tabs" and you will see New Video to the right. Click it open.

You will then see all the areas to add your video and information. The Blue Dots with "i" in them are "information" buttons, mouse over them to get pop-up hints and tips.

Give your video a Title, something unique and catchy.
Add the URL you copied from Youtube(or other provider) add by Pasting (ctrl-V)
Add a caption describing your video in under 300 charactors
Click Publish

You now have a shared video in Webemusicians.

Viddler Instructions

Viddler, the video hosting service does have 2 extra steps to link with their video system. Our system requires an "Exact Video URL". That means the "exact" link to the video. YouTube provides an "Exact URL" as the link in their Nav Bar. This is the one shown on the previous page and the one you use to copy and paste into our video system. Unfortunately Viddler doesn't provide and "Exact URL". Viddler only provides a "Page URL" This just takes you to the page that the "Exact URL" resides. Our video system can not extract the "exact URL" from a Page URL therefore the link will not work. You must extract the Exact URL manually. This is the 2 extra steps required to link to our video system with a Viddler account.

It is rather easy to extract the "Exact Video URL" from Viddler to share your videos with all the members of WebeMusicians. It just takes doing it once or twice to get the hang of it.

This is the Page URL Viddler gives you when you open a video on your account. This will NOT work in our system. You must look below your video on Viddler for the red "Embed This" button and click on it.

Once you click the "Embed This" button, this window opens with the entire embedding code is in a box at the bottom. Copy and paste this code. This is where your "Exact URL" can be found. *NOTE* The entire embedding code will NOT work, you must extract the Exact URL from with-in.

If you are "Tech Savvy" you can place the entire embed code in the Webemusicians Video link system and remove the unwanted parts to just get the Exact URL. If you aren't, it's easy to do with a word processing program such as Microsoft Word or Word Pad.

Take the Embedded Code you copied from the "Embed This" window and paste it in the word program of your choice. it will look like this

Your Exact Url is in this code. Remeber this is a "web link" so it needs to start with a web address. Which is "http://...then the URL www.viddler.com..finally the player and video code .../player/2f1f8288 ..so if you look at your pasted code it stands right out for you.

That is your Exact URL ...just copy it starting with the H in http and stopping at the last number before the trailing slash as shown above. and paste it in your Webemusicians Video system. You must be careful to not get extra Charactors in your url, like the " quote marks before or after the http and trailing slash.

This is 2 quick and easy steps for our Viddler users. Youtube Users don't have to do this. Our Video system supports 24 3rd party video hosting services. We have not tried them all. It is quite possible that other Video hosting providers may require this same proceedure. Please let us know if you use any other provided hosting support other then Youtube or Viddler.
